Muriel Siebert bought the first NYSE seat held by a woman in 1967. She had to threaten to have portable toilets delivered before the exchange put a ladies’ room near the dining room.

That’s one story out of many in She-Wolves: The Untold History of Women on Wall Street, historian Paulina Bren’s account of the first generations of women in American finance — the secretaries who taught themselves the business, the early MBAs whose credentials didn’t open the doors they were promised, and the women who eventually made it to the trading floor.

TXWSW founder Christine Breck will lead an informal evening on Zoom about the women who shaped this industry and the parts of their experience that still resonate. This is a conversation, not a lecture. You don’t need to have finished the book.

Women will be at the center of the discussion, and all TXWSW members are welcome. Conversations stay in the room; the session will not be recorded.
