The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”

OUR PARTNERSHIP

TXWSW is a statewide partner for the eight schools across Texas that were founded by the Young  Women’s Preparatory Network (formerly the Foundation for the Education of Young Women, www.youngwomensprep.org). YWPN starts and supports all-girls, college preparatory public schools. Thus far, 100% of the students have graduated from high school and 100% have been accepted into college, a remarkable achievement given that nearly 70% of the YWPN students statewide are from economically disadvantaged families.

INVESTING IN STUDENTS

Annually, Texas public school districts spend approximately $8,000 per student. YWPN-sponsored schools invest an additional $1,000 per student per year (approximate) to implement YWPN enhancements. The addition of the YWPN college readiness programming to the content provided by the local school district produces dramatically higher standardized test scores, higher graduation rates and increased college attendance. The YWPN model maximizes the potential of public education and leverages the public school tax dollars.

MEET ONE OF OUR YWPN GRADUATES

naomi

Naomi – University of the Incarnate Word
Irma Rangel School Dallas, Graduate Class of 2014

“I was worried about paying for college, but in the end it all worked out. I earned a lot of scholarships, so now I only have to take out two small loans to pay for school.”

During high school, Naomi’s family struggled financially. She knew college would be expensive but held on to her dream of becoming the first in her family to attend college. With hard work and support of the College Bound Advisor at her YWPN school, she achieved this goal.

Now, Naomi is living her dream! She is a student at the University of the Incarnate Word where she is a Business major with a minor in Engineering.

THREE WAYS YOU CAN HELP

GIVE

Every dollar given to YWPN helps a girl graduate from public high school and attend college. YWPN provides a rigorous academic and college bound culture with a College Bound Advisor on every campus and special training in leadership and wellness. Your donation will change the trajectory of a girls’ life by providing her with a first class, college preparatory education.

MENTOR

All students need encouragement, and since many of our students are economically disadvantaged and first generation to attend college, they also need role models. Volunteer your time to provide college-going perspective and moral support to an YWPN senior.
