Sháka Rasheed is Managing Director and Head of Alternative Investments – Americas at Lazard Asset Management. Sháka is responsible for leading the business development efforts for Lazard’s Alternative Investment strategies as well as identifying and seeding promising hedge funds onto the firm’s platform. He began working in the investment field in 1993. Prior to joining Lazard in 2013, Sháka was a Director in the Global Distribution group at Citadel Asset Management where he served as the Acting Head of Citadel’s Americas Distribution business, devising and executing on the group’s strategic business plan. Prior to Citadel, Sháka was a Managing Director and Senior Client Advisor with J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Strategic Client Group, where he was responsible for new business development, marketing and distributing alternative investments and traditional asset management products across US institutional investor channels. Previously, Sháka served as a Regional Manager with J.P. Morgan Funds, a Vice President and Banker with J.P. Morgan Private Bank, and an Associate with J.P. Morgan Securities. Sháka started his career in finance as an investment banking Analyst at Merrill Lynch & Co. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School as a Robert Toigo Fellow and a BA with honors as an Oprah Winfrey Scholar from Morehouse College.
