Michael “Mik” McCrea joined USAA’s FASG Information Strategy and Data Analytics Team in March of 2015 as a Lead Decision Science Analyst and provides analysis, synthesis, and recommendations to support the Life Company business leaders enabling better strategic and operational decision-making. In his current position as Director, Decision Sciences, he leads his team in providing data-driven insights and recommendations for Financial Planning and Advice.
Mik retired from the US Army in October 2014 after almost 28 years of service, with the last 4 years at the US Army War College preparing future senior military leaders to serve in strategic-level positions. Before retirement, Mik served as the Chairman for the Department of Command, Leadership and Management and had a variety of assignments to include: 6 years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy; 2 years as a military analyst in the Republic of Korea; and one tour in Iraq (2007) as a senior operations research analyst.
Mik received a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from VA Tech in 2006, received an MS in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1997, and received his BS degree in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Military Academy in 1987. He is married and has 2 sons.
