Mechelle Bates

Global Director of Project Accounting
Jacobs

I have a B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and a Certified Public Accountant since 1989.  Over the past 30 years, I have honed my accounting and leadership skills by working for companies such as Deloitte & Touché, PepsiCo and various-sized companies in industries such as manufacturing, distribution, oil & gas as well as 20 years in the engineering industry.
Currently, I am the Global Director of Project Accounting at Jacobs, a $13B worldwide engineering solutions firm.  I am responsible for accounting consistency and compliance along with business improvements and building a world class project accounting organization.
I enjoy engaging, empowering and developing team members across the globe as well as solving complex and difficult operational and organizational challenges.
Outside of work, I like to spend time outdoors, traveling, and mentoring teammates and high school students through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor 2.0 program at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy.

I am an active member of the Fort Worth Chapter of Financial Executives International and Women Steering Business, a nonprofit group of civic-minded business leaders who are dedicated to developing future female business leaders. We do this by funding livestock sales from young women who use the proceeds to advance their own education and vocational opportunities
