TRANSWESTERN ROLE
Laurie Dotter is President of Transwestern Investment Group, overseeing all aspects of the investment fiduciary including investment strategy, acquisition and asset management. Her focus includes utilizing effective management tools and research to enhance portfolio risk management for the company and its investment clients.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Prior to joining Transwestern Investment Group, Laurie was the Director of Real Estate Investments for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas from 1993 to 1998. In that capacity she was responsible for the public pension fund’s real estate equity and commercial mortgage portfolios, totaling more than $2 billion. Laurie joined the Teacher Retirement System during a tumultuous economic period, implementing a number of significant organizational and investment management changes to enhance portfolio performance. She worked closely with the Board to reestablish confidence in the real estate investment management program.
In 1998, Laurie left the public sector and joined the private equity real estate investment team in the family of companies owned by Hunt Consolidated. During her 12 year tenure at Hunt, Laurie was the executive officer responsible for directing the portfolio management professionals. Laurie also sourced and negotiated operating partnerships with several real estate operating companies, including one of the company’s most successful partnerships, Newland Communities. Under her leadership, the team actively invested in and managed real estate operating partnerships with gross assets exceeding $3 billion.
PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS/RECOGNITION
Laurie currently serves on the Texas Comptroller’s Investment Advisory Board for the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company. Laurie is an active member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and formerly served as Vice Chairman of the Plan Sponsor Council. Laurie is a member of the Board of Directors of Parkway Properties, and serves on the Compensation Committee and as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. Laurie is a member of International Women’s Forum-Dallas.
EDUCATION
Laurie received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with honors from Texas A&M University.
