About the Speaker
Alana C. Matthews, CEO and Founder of Alautus
Alana C. Matthews is the owner and founder of Alautus Clothing Company, a women’s personalized clothing company. Alana founded Alautus after over a decade of practicing law and over eight years as a leading executive in professional sports. Prior to Alautus, Alana Matthews was with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League for over eight years and held the role of Executive Vice President Business Operations and General Counsel. During her tenure with the Dallas Stars, Alana was the first female executive at the C-suite level for the franchise under current ownership, the youngest General Counsel in all major league sports when she took on her role, and the first female in the official Dallas Stars franchise photograph. As head of operations, Alana led Legal, HR, Accounting & Finance, IT, Payroll, and the Comerica Center, a multipurpose event center hosting the Dallas Mavericks G-League team, the Texas Legends, among other third party and sporting events. Alana was the Dallas Stars’ Covid Protocol Compliance Officer and led the team’s navigation of COVID and NHL protocol compliance through 2020-2022 and the team’s Stanley Cup run. Before joining the Dallas Stars, Alana was a commercial litigation lawyer with Wilson Elser law firm in Dallas. Alana is an honors graduate of SMU Dedman School of Law and Magna Cum Laude graduate of Colgate University. Alana and her husband Grant live in Frisco, Texas and have four wonderful young sons, Declan, Thatcher, Alston, and Dashiel. In addition to Alautus, Alana is an Adjunct Professor at SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas teaching Fashion Law and an Adjunct Professor at SMU Master of Science in Sports Management Program, teaching Ethics of Sports.
