Elena Ranguelova is the Head of Credit and Equity Hedge Fund Strategies at Investcorp, a leading provider and manager of alternative investment products with more than $11 billion in assets under management. She is responsible for sourcing and managing hedge fund investments and direct co-investments globally across credit, event and equities as well as across established, emerging and seed candidate hedge funds.
Previously, Elena was the Global Head of Credit and Event Driven Strategies at Pioneer Investments, responsible for almost half of the firm’s hedge fund allocations. During her tenure, the Pioneer Restructuring Fund – the firm’s flagship credit hedge fund product – won the Mondo Hedge Award for Best Fund of Funds. Prior to that, Elena was the Head of Fundamental Strategies for Goldman Sachs North America. She worked closely with the Head of Credit and the Head of Equities in the Securities Division on investments across the capital structure. She also advised the firm’s top institutional clients on portfolio and hedging solutions. Elena started her investment career as a structured credit strategist at Lehman Brothers. Between 1996 and 2001, she was a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, collaborating with professors Martin Feldstein and John Y. Campbell on valuation ratios and stock market outlook, privatizing Social Security and behavioral finance research.
Elena holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University and graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Mathematics from Wellesley College. Her research on finance and public economics has been published in multiple journals, including the American Economic Review. Between 2011 and 2013, Elena served on the Board of Directors of Pioneer Alternative Investments. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two children.
