A Woman’s View from the Street 2/24/21

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are all as well and safe as possible after last week’s snowgeddon. I know many folks here in Austin are still without power and water. Last week’s extreme weather exposed the dark side of Texas’ rapid growth, namely that infrastructure spending has not kept pace with that growth. Hopefully the destruction and loss of life prompt real changes.

We were supposed to do our resiliency training tomorrow evening, but we have elected to postpone it until April 1st since many of us are still playing catch-up this week. Michele Smith, who is an amazing yoga teacher and person has recorded a message for us all and has included a brief 7 minute mediation to help cope with stress that can be found here. I did it at my desk this morning and it was a big help.

Our calendar is filling up including an online cooking lesson, economic outlook with Dr. Lev Borodovsky, Danielle Di Martino Booth and a series of happy hours with the TXWSW board so you can get to know us better and give us your feedback. Check out our site for more details.

I would ask each of you to consider corporate sponsorship of TXWSW. Benefits include attendance at our flagship events and recognition for your firm.  And most importantly, you help us support the life-changing work of the Young Women’s Preparatory Network. To learn more about YWPN, you can find a short video here. To learn more and sponsorship, you may find our sponsor information here. Additionally, we would be happy to create a custom sponsorship for you. Please contact Bianca King at developmentdirector@txwsw.com

Kind regards

Christine
