A recent study by the Harvard Business Review points to a single step companies can take to effectively combat sexual harassment: communicate to employees that preventing it is a high priority issue. When the message comes clearly and directly from the top down, it sets a company’s culture in the right direction. The full article can be found here.

There is debate back and forth on the issue of having quotas for women on boards. There are many who say that this will result in boards just hiring any woman and ending up with less qualified candidates in a rush to fill quotas and that the process should be a more natural one. A new study by recruiter Egon Zehnder underscores the importance of these quotas – it seems that in spite of the evidence that having a diverse board improves performance, women get board seats mostly when it’s required by law.
