Of course, the big headline this week is the crude and sexually explicit comments made by Ken Fisher, founder and Chairman of Fisher Investments at an industry conference. Mr. Fisher apparently likens his investment strategy to picking up women for sex according to conference attendees. Kudos to Alex Chalekian for having the courage to come forward and to Michigan’s CIO Jon Braeutigam for pulling $600 million from the firm. It is only when men stand up against this behavior that there will be real change in the workplace.

Which brings us to the next article. Author Ruth Whippman is working on a book about raising boys and in her research noted that the essential problem with feminism is that the focus is on how women should ‘fix’ themselves versus focusing on how to fix male entitlement and toxic behavior in the workplace and elsewhere. She notes that female norms of “deference, humility, cooperation and listening skills will benefit not only women but also businesses, politics and even men themselves.” The full article can be found here.

Coming up later this month in Austin, we have our wonderful Boots & Blackjack Casino Night at the Line Hotel. Thank you to the following local Austin companies that have generously donated to our November 7th Silent Auction. Attend for your chance to bid on these stellar items benefiting the Young Women’s Preparatory Network. Get your tickets here
