A Woman's View from the Street 4/20/20

TXWSW, Limitless

Friday Greetings!

We will be postponing all of our events for now until late summer / early fall to keep our members safe and healthy. The article below goes into the math of a pandemic spread and since the US is behind in testing, we believe it is better to err on the side of caution. Please take a moment to read this and share it with your network because the sooner we all take appropriate action, the better for us all:

We look forward to resuming events in the near future. In the meantime, we will be publishing our weekly blog and you are welcome to network with our community virtually on social media.

Celebrating our Limitless Leaders: today we honor Shule Han. Shule is a Tax Manager Senior at EY, a member of the Dallas Networking Committee and our favorite photographer!  Read more about why she gives back: https://txwsw.com/volunteer-spotlight-shule-han-limitless-leader/

A frequent topic in my blog explores the question, why, if women are 51% of the population, do we allow ourselves to be discriminated against? A recent UN study found that an amazing 90% of people, both men and women, display prejudiced sentiments toward women. “As many as 91% of men and 86% of women showed at least one clear bias against women, based on the seven key metrics. Half of the people surveyed said they thought men made better political leaders than women, while 40% felt men would be better business executives. Almost 30% said they thought it was acceptable for a man to beat his partner, according to the report.” As long as these destructive attitudes continue, women will struggle to achieve equality. The full report article can be found here.

I would ask each of you to consider corporate sponsorship of TXWSW. Benefits include attendance at our flagship events and recognition for your firm. To learn more, you may find our sponsor information here. Additionally, we would be happy to create a custom sponsorship for you. Please contact Bianca King at developmentdirector@txwsw.com

All my best to you and your family.

Kind regards

Christine
