Why did you choose to become a volunteer?
I strongly believe in the power of girls’ education and the impact it has on the society, communities and economic development. TXWSW is a strong local supporter of this cause and their efforts in this area resonated with me.
How have networking groups like Texas Wall Street Women helped your career?
TXWSW offered me a great way to meet and connect with brilliant women in the industry, to develop friendships over the years and learn from their wisdom. As I grew in my career, I consider it a great avenue to give back to the younger professionals.
What future change would you like to see in the finance industry (or your industry) and how will you contribute to that change?
I would like to see more diversity, particularly at the top of organizations, of backgrounds, ideas and perspectives. Is my conviction that diversity in any work place will lead to a better, fairer and more prosperous society.
Texas Wall Street Women is a non-profit networking group that supports its members in their career growth by offering valuable networking and educational opportunities. We also give back to our community through our partnership with the Young Women’s Preparatory Network that provides college preparatory education to underserved girls across Texas. We provide our entire programming with an all-volunteer staff who all have successful finance careers and still have time to volunteer to help other women achieve their goals.
