TXWSW Newsletter / Holiday Shopping Event / Men Can Bring Change / HR / Hiring / CEO Interviews

    Happy Tuesday:

For our Houston members, please don’t forget that we have our rescheduled shopping night at Elaine Turner this Wednesday. Cannot make it to Houston? Call the Elaine Turner shop at 713-255-0052 to place an order and 15% of all proceeds go to support the Young Women’s Preparatory Network if you mention TXWSW. Get a head start on your holiday shopping and benefit a great cause at the same time!

The question of the week is will the Harvey Weinstein scandal reform men’s behavior? The answer is we can hope so, but a recent article reminds us that harassment has more to do with power and money than sex. It notes that lasting change needs to come from men. The full article can be found here.

A recent Bloomberg article explores the reason HR departments have been largely ineffectual when it comes to dealing with sexual harassment. It seems that most HR departments are staffed by women and they are reporting up to (by and large) men who turn a deaf ear to the problem. Well until the problem makes its way to the front page of the newspaper anyway… The full article can be found here.

Adam Bryant of the NY Times has interviewed 525 CEOs during his decade of writing the Corner Office column. The next article takes all their best advice on leadership, culture, hiring and what it takes to get to the top. The article is a worthwhile read and can be found here.

Finally, since we are nearing bonus season, the last article, from Forbes, shares useful negotiating tips that can help with salary negotiations. The full article can be found here.

We have some terrific events lined up for you the last two months of the year and we look forward to seeing you all at an event in 2017! To learn more about our 2017 and 2018 events, please visit www.txwsw.com

    Kind regards

    Christine
