    Happy Monday!

The first article touches on a current cultural phenomenon of ‘bitchy resting face’ which is the label given to women when they are photographed without a smile on their face. I did a quick perusal of Fortune, Forbes and Bloomberg, and photos of men with the same expression on their faces would be classified as serious, and certainly never bitchy. Double standard anyone? The full article can be found here: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/02/fashion/im-not-mad-thats-just-my-resting-b-face.html

The next article debunks the myth that it is lonely at the top. Apparently studies have shown that “power enhances power-holders’ beliefs that they control their own fates, buffers them from stress and creates the perception that others are consistently “in their corner.” The full article can be found here: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/26/opinion/not-lonely-at-the-top.html

An article in Investment News explores why mixed gender teams produce better outcomes for investors:http://www.investmentnews.com/article/20150728/BLOG09/150729878/why-gender-diversity-means-better-outcomes-for-investors

And lastly, from Institutional Investor, a piece on the 5 ways to bridge the gender gap in hedge funds:http://www.institutionalinvestor.com/inside-edge/3474273/women-in-hedge-funds-5-ways-to-bridge-the-gender-gap.html#.Vb-cy_kw8g4

We have a terrific line up of events for the Fall including a coed cocktail party and brewery tour in Dallas, our second annual Charity Shopping Night in Houston, and a Holiday Luncheon in Austin.  Register early to avoid disappointment!

    Kind regards

    Christine
