A Woman’s View from the Street 8/4/20

TXWSW, Limitless

Happy Tuesday!

We have an amazing line-up of events for you in the coming months. I am grateful to our speakers, our fabulous committee members and extraordinary marketing director for their efforts in putting these events together. We look forward to seeing you at one or more soon!

On the topic of our upcoming event with Dr. Andy Keller of the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute who has done an amazing job of managing the institute staff through COVID and work from home, the Harvard Business Review notes that COVID-19 has likely changed attitudes about working from home forever which on the surface is good news in terms of flexibility, however, new research suggests that WFH isn’t necessarily a positive for women because women bear more of the domestic burden and lack of contact with mostly male decision makers. The good news is that the article lays out guidelines managers can use to support their staff in this new way of working. The full article can be found here.

The best companies have always tried to provide perks to help staff feel part of the team and attain work life balance, but as work has shifted to home, they have had to be creative with how they maintain company culture and promote loyalty at a time when levels of stress and burnout are at an all-time high. To learn more about how these companies have improved both productivity and mentoring, please read the article here.

A recent Bloomberg article notes that the wealth management industry is facing a massive change in the coming decade. Right now, women control just $10 trillion in household assets and that number is set to triple over the coming decade driven by inheritances as women outlive their aging spouse. This will be a big challenge for the industry were just 15% of wealth managers are women. The full article can be found here. Speaking of which, we have some outstanding female investors on our State of the Markets panels!

You will note below that we have scheduled both our State of the Markets and C-Suite events virtually this year. We are thrilled that Danielle DiMartino Booth and our fabulous CIOs will all be participating. We have broken the event into 2 separate sessions on different days, and you are welcome to attend one or both events. We also have some great speakers coming your way for C-Suite at a time when we all need insightful mentors. More information on the events may be found here.

I would ask each of you to consider corporate sponsorship of TXWSW. Benefits include attendance at our flagship events and recognition for your firm.  And most importantly, you help us support the life-changing work of the Young Women’s Preparatory Network. To learn more about YWPN, you can find a short video here. To learn more and sponsorship, you may find our sponsor information here. Additionally, we would be happy to create a custom sponsorship for you. Please contact Bianca King atdevelopmentdirector@txwsw.com

Kind regards

Christine
