TXWSW, Limitless

If you’re having trouble viewing this email, you may see it online

Friday Greetings

I know we are all following the status of the markets and the path of the coronavirus. For many of our younger members, this will be the first time they have personally experienced a market correction of this magnitude. Reading about past ones is one thing; living through it is another. Having been in the industry for over 25 years, I have seen my fair share of these, and it is always different. The best resource we have for navigating market volatility is our network of very smart colleagues, and I know we are all blessed to know some pretty brilliant folks. Market activity that we are experiencing today underscores one of the reasons that our annual State of the Markets is TXWSW’s flagship event. Every year we gather some accomplished investors that bring us their valuable insights. This year will be no exception. To learn more about the event, please click here.

A recent CIO magazine article notes that women and minorities manage just 13% of charitable assets. The Knight Foundation sponsored a study of the make-up of the manager pool for 26 endowments and foundations with over $64 billion in their coffers. “Four top charitable endowments—the George Kaiser Family Foundation, the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, the Wyss Foundation, and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation—had a whopping total of 0% analyzed AUM managed by women and minorities.” The full article can be found here

And to underscore why diversity matters so much, take Catherine Wood, Founder and CEO of ARK Invest. Her flagship ETF has outperformed its peers and won awards because she designed a strategy where she saw a gap in the market. The full article can be found here.

Lastly, you will note that we are re-launching our San Antonio chapter with a fabulous event celebrating the life and work of Jeanie Wyatt. We are getting the event posted now so stay-tuned for details. TXWSW members from all over the state are welcome.

I would ask each of you to consider corporate sponsorship of TXWSW. Benefits include attendance at our flagship events and recognition for your firm. To learn more, you may find our sponsor information here. Additionally, we would be happy to create a custom sponsorship for you. Please contact Bianca King at developmentdirector@txwsw.com

Kind regards

Christine
