It seems more and more clients are demanding that their law firms’ detail both how many diverse lawyers they employ and whether those lawyers are given meaningful work. Novartis AG will withhold 15% of legal fees if diversity targets are not met. Happily, legislation is not needed when clients take the issue seriously and use the power of their spending to make things happen. The full article can be found here.

From the more good news file, eighteen companies added a woman to their board in October and six of those women were black. The increase comes in response to the nationwide protest over the killing of George Floyd. We can all hope that more gains for women and minorities is the silver lining in the tragedy. Finally, with Thanksgiving around the corner and pandemic fatigue in the face of increasing cases, companies dealing with worker burnout is a real thing. With no real end in sight, companies are starting to get creative in helping their staff cope. From 30-hour work weeks to delf-care days and impromptu 3 day weekends, this article shares actions that some companies have taken to boost morale and help their employees through this difficult time.
