From the good news file, women have taken the $700 billion CLO market by storm. Female executives hold one out of every 10 senior management jobs in the field and head 13 of the world’s 50 largest CLO teams. Female-lead CLOs have also outperformed their male counterparts since 2013. The full article can be found here.
In the venture capital arena, funding to female founders for 2018 stalled at 2.2% of all VC dollars. To put this in perspective 482 teams of female-led companies received $10 billion less in funding than the e-cigarette company Jul took in buy itself. The full article can be found here.
Finally, from Japan, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has made it a priority to elevate women in the workplace to help jumpstart their sputtering economy, but it seems that a glaring imbalance in housework and childcare duties keep women from pursuing better jobs. An analysis of government data noted that women who work more than 49 hours a week do close to 25 hours of housework a week compared to their husbands who do an average of less than 5.
