Alison Hermann, CAIA

Alison is currently a Senior Analyst on the Marketable Alternatives team at the University of Texas Investment Management Company. She is responsible for portfolio monitoring, due diligence and sourcing of external managers at UTIMCO, one of the country’s largest endowments. Most recently, Ms. Hermann held a similar position with Austin Capital Management, a fund of hedge funds. Before moving to Austin, she was a fixed income research analyst at 40|86 Advisors, a subsidiary of Conseco, in Indianapolis, where she gained experience evaluating bank-sponsored and private placement deals. Prior, she supported the emerging structured finance unit of STAR Financial Bank focusing on taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Alison began her 10 year investment career at Heller Financial in Chicago, with the majority of her tenure spent in the Aircraft Finance Division, which became part of GE Capital Aviation Services once the company was acquired.
Alison graduated from Indiana University and received her MBA with a concentration in finance from Butler University. She holds the CAIA charter as well as Series 7 and 63 licenses.
Susan Chen, Esq.
Director of Public Markets, UTIMCO
Susan Chen joined UTIMCO in September 2008 as Director of Public Markets. Prior to UTIMCO, she worked as a portfolio manager and analyst at a $5 billion alternative investment firm investing in distressed debt, event-driven equity, private debt, and special assets. Previously, Susan worked in the corporate planning department of The Washington Post Company, on the risk arbitrage research team at Bear Stearns, and in investment banking at Merrill Lynch.
She received an MBA and JD, cum laude, from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, respectively, and an AB in economics, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Harvard College.
Investment Officer, Travis County
Debbie Laudermilk, has been Investment Officer for Travis County since 2009, managing the County’s daily cash needs and investing their funds in accordance with the Public Funds Investment Act.
She has held various financial and investment positions for both public and corporate entities. Previously, was responsible for investor relations at Active Power, Golfsmith, SigmaTel and Silicon Labs. From 1998-200 worked in Temple-Inland’s Treasury Department and managed cash and investments and capital financings. She began her 18 year investment career at Teacher Retirement System of Texas; initially as an equity analyst and then portfolio manager/investment officer.
Debbie earned a BBA in International Business and Finance at University of Texas, Austin and an MBA in Management from St. Edwards University.
Anca Ion Oancea, CFA
Portfolio Manager, Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Co.
Anca Ion is currently the Portfolio Manager for Structured Fixed Income at the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company which invests, manages and oversees over $45 billion in assets. Investments include funds such as the Treasury Poll and separately managed portfolios for various Texas state agency clients.
Anca is responsible for managing the MBS and ABS component of the $30 billion Treasury Pool portfolio as well as co-manages daily repo activity, CP, short-medium term securities and daily cash-flow analysis. Before moving to Austin, Anca worked as Treasury and Investment Officer for Eureko Romania, her responsibilities including cash-flow analysis and managing the company’s investment portfolio. Anca holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and is a CFA Charterholder.
