Alison Hermann, CAIA
Associate, The University of Texas Investment Management Company
Chairman — Austin
Alison is currently a Senior Analyst on the Marketable Alternatives team at the University of Texas Investment Management Company. She is responsible for portfolio monitoring, due diligence and sourcing of external managers at UTIMCO, one of the country’s largest endowments. Most recently, Ms. Hermann held a similar position with Austin Capital Management, a fund of hedge funds. Before moving to Austin, she was a fixed income research analyst at 40|86 Advisors, a subsidiary of Conseco, in Indianapolis, where she gained experience evaluating bank-sponsored and private placement deals. Prior, she supported the emerging structured finance unit of STAR Financial Bank focusing on taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Alison began her 10 year investment career at Heller Financial in Chicago, with the majority of her tenure spent in the Aircraft Finance Division, which became part of GE Capital Aviation Services once the company was acquired.
Alison graduated from Indiana University and received her MBA with a concentration in finance from Butler University. She holds the CAIA charter as well as Series 7 and 63 licenses.
Nichole Ake, CAMS
SVP, BBVA Compass
Chairman — Education Commitee
Nichole Ake is the SVP, SR Mgr BSA/AML for BBVA Compass. She was previously the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Condera Advisors until it sold at the end of 2013. It was an investment adviser firm that focused on alternative investments, fund to funds, due diligence on hedge funds and traditional wealth management. She has over 20 years of financial services experience in operations, trading and compliance with startup firms as well as large international firms.
She’s been a speaker, panelist and moderator at HFBOA, DSTA, and STA on operational risk management, industry and regulatory focused initiatives. She holds a BS in Finance from Boston College, an MBA from Southern Methodist University and completed the three year Securities Industry Institute program through Wharton/SIFMA as well as other notable certificates from University of Dallas and University of North Carolina management programs.
Nichole is a past-President of the Dallas Security Traders Association (DSTA) and served as Co-Chair of the national Securities Traders Association (STA) Compliance Committee.
Ashleigh B. White, CPA
Audit Manager, Rothstein Kass
Chairman — Dallas
Ashleigh White is a Manager in the Financial Services practice of Rothstein Kass. Based in Rothstein Kass’ Dallas office, Mrs. White began her career with the Firm in 2009 where she has worked with various domestic and offshore clients within the alternative investment industry, including hedge funds, fund of funds and private equity funds. She has experience with equity securities, fixed-income securities, commodities and various other derivative products. Mrs. White received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Master of Science in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Mrs. White is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA), Texas Hedge Fund Association (THFA) and Texas Young Professionals – Dallas Chapter (TYP).
Mrs. White serves as the website editor and bookkeeper for the THFA and is a formal mentor to a high school junior through the Foundation for the Education of Young Woman’s mentorship program.
Investment Analyst, Covenant Multifamily Offices, LLC
Chairman — San Antonio
Rebecca is the investment analyst at Covenant, a multi-family office with over $1 billion in assets under management. Prior to joining Covenant, Rebecca interned with UBS Financial Services and Edward Jones Investments.
Rebecca earned her finance degree from the Bill Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University. While at St. Mary’s, she co-founded the Investment Club and led the school’s Fair Trade campaign, making St. Mary’s the first Fair Trade University in the state of Texas. In addition, Rebecca served as Portfolio Manager for the University’s endowment fund.
Rebecca is continually learning and developing professionally; she is pursuing her CFA Charter, is co-founder of Women in Asset Management in San Antonio and is spearheading efforts to launch a TXWSW chapter in San Antonio.
