Anna M. Alvarado joined FCFS in 2011 as Associate General Counsel. In January 2015, she was promoted to General Counsel and now directs and leads all aspects of the company’s legal operations and matters. FirstCash is the world’s largest pawn store operator with over 2,000 retail locations throughout the United States and Latin America. FirstCash has opened or acquired over 1,500 pawn stores in the last five fiscal years, including the addition of 815 stores as a result of its merger with its biggest competitor, Cash America, International, Inc., in September 2016, and 211 stores as a result of another important acquisition in Latin America in December 2015.
Throughout her career, Ms. Alvarado has developed broad leadership, technical and business experience and has provided quality business and legal guidance. As part of FirstCash’s executive team, she’s led and directed all of the company’s acquisitions since 2011, played a critical role in the company’s integration and merger with Cash America, its first public offering of secured notes, negotiating and directing pre-litigation, high-stakes business disputes, and guiding the company’s business development and business in Latin America.
Since joining FirstCash, it has become the world’s largest and leading international pawn store company, tripling in size. Through these experiences, Ms. Alvarado has developed a deep command of the wide range of challenges and opportunities facing multinational organizations today. She is fluent in Spanish and holds an M.B.A. Before joining the company, she was a trial attorney with notable litigation firms in Texas. Before a career in law, she was employed as an accountant. Mrs. Alvarado is the daughter of immigrant Mexican farm workers. She was raised on a labor camp in central California where her first job was picking grapes at a young age.
Mrs. Alvarado is a graduate of Leadership Fort Worth’s Leading Edge Program. She has served on boards including the Women’s Policy Forum Foundation Board, the Board of Girl Scouts Texas Oklahoma Plains, and Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas-Fort Worth Chapter.
In 2011, Mrs. Alvarado was selected as one of the recipients of the Fort Worth Business Press 2011 “40 under 40”. The “40 under 40” list honors select men and women under the age of 40 who are helping to shape the future through their business and community involvement.
